Amana 4.8 Cubic Foot Self-Cleaning Electric Range, AER5830VAB, Black Recent Reviews

We place of safeguard't had it long but we're being paid rid of it. The burners are impracticable to regulate. It is hot or not anything. So we have to put a pan on for a bit then take it off. If not the food is either burned or not cooked at all. The oven light doesn't work and the drawer is off the track and hard to close by the book. We'll never buy a additional Amana product.

I've been cooking and baking for over 40 years, in all sorts of apartments and old homes and I would have to say that this is absolutely the most terrible oven I have ever used. Yes, I agree with all who say that the timer is strange, that the schooner oven top developed scratches with 4 months of use and is difficult to clean. But, the most terrible is baking.I love to bake and I was excited to have an electric oven, which in my encounter are more dependable than gas ovens. Now, I know this isn't true. We have roasted chickens, baked pies and bread, rhubarb crisp -- all sorts of good stuff that turned out terribly since it is impracticable to auburn anything in this oven. We purchased an expensive oven thermostat to try out the temperature and discovered that when the bell rings signalling that the oven is heated at, say, 375 it in fact has only reached 225 at best. So, we learned to wait. It takes over half an hour to heat the oven up to 375. Then it takes 50% longer -- at smallest amount -- to cook an item through, but the top or exterior remains pale and pasty: heat chickens look boiled, top pie crusts melt very than auburn, last weekend the rhubarb crisp I made melted into a sticky mass b/c I had to cook it so long. Calls to Amana have told us that's how this oven is supposed to work -- the top burner is only for broiling and the oven must auburn by "convection". However this isn't a convection oven and it doesn't work like one.I am renowned for being a splendid baker and our guests estimate to have wonderful desserts fresh from the oven. Well, that's over now. The only business I can produce out of the oven is a splendid flan since I can steam it at low temps -- no browning. Soon we'll get a new oven, but it won't be an Amana!

I saw this range and the matching dishwasher and side-by-side fridge on sale and figured it was time for an upgrade. I bought the black and have had it for about one and a half years now. I am VERY disappointed with my purchases! It is an "Energy Star" apparatus and I planning this would be a big plus but boy was I wrong! It uses less energy but I have to cook/bake everything twice as long as with my beat up OLD range! I have to say that I haven't tried the "Self Clean" oven background since in the booklet it says that it takes 6-8hrs for it to clean itself! The burners are hard to clean and even with a glass cooktop cleaner there are rings aroung the burners from excess oil and oils! I think I made a bad choice in being paid this! Save your money and buy an GE or a touch best!
